Mock Trial Team Wins Regional Competition and Advances to Nationals
Michigan State University College of Law students advance to the National Thurgood Mock Trial Competition after winning first place at the Midwest Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Regional Convention in St. Louis MO.
The BLSA Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial team of second-year law students Ariel Lett, James DeMates, Stephanie Williams, and Jalisa Foster represented MSU Law and competed against 13 other schools. DeMates won the distinction of overall best advocate of the entire competition, with a perfect score of 50/50. The team advances to the national level on March 6-10, 2013, in Atlanta, Georgia.
“This is a historic accomplishment for the team and for MSU Law,” said Olabisi Ogboye, president of the MSU Law Black Law Students Association. “These students put in a lot of time and dedication toward this competition.”
