Welcomes Professor Karen Woody to Michigan State Law College

Michigan State Law Review hosted its annual symposium featuring Professor Karen Woody from Washington and Lee University School of Law, a recognized authority on securities law, financial regulation, and white-collar crime. Each year, Michigan State Law Review publishes a symposium edition featuring leading experts on a developing area of the law. The journal’s 2023-24 symposium focuses on Insider Trading.

The September 13 event marked the return of in-person events since 2019. Dean Greene kicked off the September 13 event by welcoming Professor Woody, who discussed her forthcoming article, Safe Harbors in the Shadows: Extending 10b5-1 Plans to Cover Shadow Trading. University of Michigan Professor Will Thomas and MSU College of Law Professors James Chen and Geeyoung Min shared their insights on Professor Woody’s article. College of Law Professor Kevin Douglas supported the Law Review team by helping organize the event.

Prior to academia, Professor Woody practiced law in several Washington, D.C., law firms. She earned her LL.M. with distinction in Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center. She received her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, where she was active in the American University Law Review.
