MSU College of Law Dean Linda Greene joined Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District (ED) of Michigan, Sean Cox, in recognizing the accomplishments of the Court in the ED of Michigan. Judge Cox presented the “State of the Court” to the leaders of the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association during the annual luncheon on September 13, 2023.

Judge Cox shared the annual highlights, initiatives, and accomplishments of the Court with the ED Chapter of the FBA, comprised of members in some aspect of federal practice. The ED of Michigan Chapter serves 34 counties in the Eastern half of Michigan’s lower peninsula. According to the ED Chapter website, the Eastern District of Michigan includes about 2/3 of the State’s population (2010 census).

“MSU College of Law has a long history with Judge Cox,” said Dean Greene. “He is an avid supporter of our law students and a real inspiration for what you can accomplish with an MSU COL J.D.” An alumnus of the Detroit College of Law, predecessor to MSU College of Law, Judge Cox, ’83, served as the guest speaker at the Michigan State University College of Law Commencement in May 2023.
