Hosting the annual Bar Review Vendor Fair is one of the extensive lineup of services provided by the Academic Success Program (ASP). Bar exam prep course companies are invited to Michigan State University College of Law each year to share the services they offer and discuss how their programs benefit students during exam preparation.

“The intent of coming to law school is to become a lawyer, and the ASP helps students gain a good sense of what needs to be done and what options are available to them,” said Goldie Pritchard, Assistant Dean of the ASP. “This event exposes them to different formats for presenting bar prep information so students can pick a program that fits how they learn and process information instead of just picking one at random.”

Attending the bar review vendor fair were BarBri, Helix Bar Review, JD Advising, and Themis Bar Review. The representatives of these companies have a shared commitment to educate students and make sure that they have enough information to choose confidently additional resources to prep for the bar.

One company representative says they like to provide students with free resources that they can try out while in law school. Bar review prep programs are designed to add structure by helping students establish a study schedule and access condensed materials for studying and exam-like questions for self-testing.

The event was open to all students, with many first-year students trying to plan ahead for exam preparation. “I’m a first-generation law student and don’t know a whole lot about getting ready for the bar exam so I thought it would be great to come. Having practice exams and simulations to review would be very helpful for me,” said Catarina Viselli, ’26.

“I came because I wasn’t really sure what was available,” said Dominique Miller, ’26. “I didn’t know what companies or options were available for bar prep in general so I’m hoping to get an idea before I commit to such a big financial decision.”
