MSU Law Alumni Tee Off at 24th Annual Golfing Outing

September 15, 2023

MSU College of Law Alumni hit the links for the 24th Annual Golf Outing hosted by the MSU Law Alumni Association. Friendly competition and networking were the focus of the day on September 7 at Forest Akers West Golf Course. The event attracts many alumni who look forward to playing 18 holes every year and invite family and friends to join them.

“It’s really easy for alumni to disengage after graduation,” said Courtney Agrusa, ’12, President of the MSU Law Alumni Association. “It’s very important for us to maintain engagement and contact with the college and students. There’s such a camaraderie and community when you graduate and MSU is such a national name, so it is important to keep in contact with one another.”

Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Katie Pike, works year-round to keep alumni connected to the college. She believes when students see alumni continuously returning to give back, it will motivate them to do the same.

“Events such as these inspire students to see themselves as lawyers and encourage alumni to stay engaged,” she said. “Planning takes a lot of communication via email and social media, and it also helps when alumni spread the word amongst one another. It helps increase participation for events such as this.”

Many MSU Law alumni enjoy coming to this event and showing support for the college. Even if many are not the best golfers, they still make it a point to show up and connect with fellow grads to network and stay in touch.

“It’s always good to get out and see people you haven’t seen in some years,” said Joel Mishler, ’02. “I try to make it out every year. I live locally so it makes it convenient, and I look forward to it every year.”

“It’s really important to come back and give support to the students and just see what people have been up to,” said Crissie Zuchora, ’17. “This is my first golf outing, and I had a blast. I had a great time, and it was great company to be around.”

The 19th Hole capped off the day-long event, featuring a reception and presentation to the alumni golfers at the top of the leaderboard. The following participants were recognized for their good day of golf:
