“MSU Law was the right choice for me for the many opportunities to gain practical experience and its friendly community. The clinics, DC program, and externship flexibility made me confident that the program would equip me with the skills necessary for an effective lawyer.”

After visiting MSU Law and seeing the collaborative nature of the students, Daniel Sherwood said it was an easy choice.

“MSU Law was the right choice for me for the many opportunities to gain practical experience and its friendly community. The clinics, DC program, and externship flexibility made me confident that the program would equip me with the skills necessary for an effective lawyer.”

Sherwood notes that the extensive network of Spartans is huge strength to MSU Law, helping to connect students with alumni across the country.

“Our diverse set of faculty, from a broad range of reputable firms, government entities, and academic institutions, are accessible and invested.” said Sherwood. “The courses serve a wide array of practice areas that allow you flexibility during your last two years of school. And, finally, 'Sparty' is known from coast to coast!”

At MSU Law, Sherwood said that working with Professor McNally and the other trial students on the Board of Advocates helped him “learn the advantages of organization and oral advocacy.” In addition, his DC Externship provided him with networking opportunities that secured him a job post-graduation.

“The D.C. program was crucial in me finding employment after graduation,” said Sherwood. “Due to MSU Law CSO's relationship with the EPA, I was able to clerk for the Criminal Enforcement Division. There, I established relationships with practitioners in and outside of government. That networking eventually led to a full-time position in the D.C. area.”
