New Legal Perspectives:
The Synergy of Law and Science to
Protect the Rights of Nature

September 14, 2023

Hosted by the Animal Law Program
Led by Professor David Favre

This conference will explore the new global movement known as the “Rights of Nature,” which redefines environmental conservation and shifts the focus from nature as a resource to be exploited to nature as a legal living entity. The concept of nature is broad, encompassing nearly everything on Earth. But, in order for this concept to be implemented beyond the realm of academia, it needs to be legally defined. Join this interdisciplinary discussion where legal and nonlegal experts share their expertise on potential paths, scope, and triggers of this novel legal concept.
