Work Limitation

Juris Doctor students attending Michigan State University College of Law may not engage in employment in excess of twenty (20) hours per week when enrolled in more than eleven (11) credit hours in a regular semester until completion of the first-year curriculum. Students may petition the Assistant Dean for Student and Academic Affairs for a waiver of the work-limitation policy.  The granting or denial of such petition is within the discretion of the Assistant Dean for Student and Academic Affairs, whose determination is final.  The Assistant Dean for Student and Academic Affairs may consider the petitioner’s financial need and the extent to which the proposed employment is likely to compromise the petitioner’s academic success in the first-year curriculum.
