MSU LAW PROFESSOR APPOINTED TO BOARD OF FEDERAL HOME LOAN BANK OF INDIANAPOLIS

East Lansing, MI – Professor Elliot A. Spoon has been appointed by the Federal Housing Finance Board as a Public Interest Director on the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. 

The Federal Housing Finance Board is an independent regulatory agency of the executive branch of the U.S. Government.  It ensures that the Federal Home Loan Banks operate in a safe and sound manner, carry out their housing and community development missions, and remain adequately capitalized and able to raise funds in the capital markets.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis is one of 12 regional banks that make up the Federal Home Loan Bank System.  Federal Home Loan Banks are government-sponsored enterprises created by Congress to ensure access to low-cost funding for their member financial institutions. 

Professor Spoon commented on his appointment:  “I am very excited to have the opportunity to participate in the country’s housing finance system, particularly at a time when the system is under stress as a result of the subprime crisis.  I look forward to assisting in solving the current problems and ensuring that housing finance system remains strong and vital.”
