The Aid Process

Electronic Services Checklist

To allow for the most efficient processing of your financial aid, we recommend you take the following actions:

Once you have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and had your data sent to MSU College of Law, we will process your aid. We will consider you for federal Stafford Loans and private loans. Our first awards are made beginning in mid-March for the following fall and spring semesters. You should expect your financial aid notification within 2-4 weeks of filing your FAFSA or after we begin processing for the academic year. (Please note that King, Merit and Trustee scholarships are determined by the Office of Admissions; you should receive a separate, paper mailing from Admissions regarding your scholarship eligibility.)

Our goal is to provide you with service and information in the most effective way possible. Therefore, your financial aid awards will be posted online and an e-mail alert will be sent to your MSU e-mail address. Our secure eFinaid service, which is part of STUINFO, is provided to track application processing, accept awards, notify us of changes, print forms, and submit information online.

All admitted students receive an MSU network account which can be used for personal e-mail and internet access, and more importantly to access secure University web services for financial aid, billing, disbursement, refunds, class assignments, and grade information. You should have received a letter with instructions for activating your network account shortly after you received your admission notice. If you have not activated your account yet, you can do so by following the instructions at the MSU Network account set up site. Assistance is available from MSU Consulting Services at 517-432-6200. After your account is activated, you can begin using your MSU E-mail.

MSU College of Law is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution.
