Sarah Eskridge (she/her) is an Associate Clinical Professor of Law at the Michigan State University College of Law, where she teaches in the first-year legal writing program and other legal writing-centered courses. Her academic career is distinguished by a strong background in curriculum design for both first-year and upper-level students, with a particular focus on the writing process. She carries the process-centered approach through her time in the classroom and in conference presentations. Before joining MSU, Professor Eskridge served as the Legal Writing Director and a Service Professor in Law at St. Mary's University School of Law.

Professor Eskridge's legal practice background focused on estate planning, probate, and small business law. She has also demonstrated a commitment to community service through her pro bono work for local nonprofit organizations, guiding them through the formation process, securing federal and state nonprofit status, and crafting and revising bylaws.

Before embarking on her legal career, Professor Eskridge served in the U.S. Army as a clarinet player, bringing a unique perspective to her academic work. Following her honorable discharge, she continued to share her musical talents by teaching small group and individual clarinet lessons and playing in the premier wind ensemble in San Antonio, Texas, where she lived. This diverse background in law, education, music, and military service informs her holistic approach to legal education.

As a first-generation college student, Professor Eskridge understands the transformative power of education. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.A. in Political Science in 2009 before earning her J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in 2012. Her personal educational journey enhances her ability to connect with and inspire students from various backgrounds.

Professor Eskridge's multifaceted experience in law, academia, and public service, combined with her military background, enables her to offer students a rich, practical perspective on the legal profession. She is dedicated to fostering clear, effective legal communication skills in the next generation of lawyers, drawing on her diverse experiences to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
