Yuval Abrams is an Assistant Professor at the Michigan State University College of Law. Prior to joining the faculty at Michigan State in 2024, Professor Abrams was a postdoctoral fellow at the New York University School of Law. He has previously taught philosophy at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania and at the City University of New York.
Professor Abrams’ research and scholarship is at the intersection of law and philosophy, focused on the theoretical foundations of private law (primarily torts and contracts) and the law of evidence. He is especially interested in the topic of causation, both philosophically and its role in legal responsibility. He teaches torts, evidence, jurisprudence, and remedies, and has written, or is currently writing, on tort theory, omissions, proximate cause, loss of chance, legal proof and proof beyond a reasonable doubt, and the jurisprudence of scoring and penalties in sports.
Professor Abrams earned his B.A. and LL.B. from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, his LL.M. from New York University School of Law, and his Ph.D. in Philosophy at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He is admitted to practice law both in Israel (inactive) and in New York and clerked for Justice Ayala Procaccia at the Supreme Court of Israel.
