  • Biography

    As Professor and Director of the World Technology Access (WorldTAP) Program within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Michigan State University, Dr. Maredia is actively engaged in training, capacity building, and technology transfer activities. He has worked in numerous international development projects funded by the USAID, USDA, UN-FAO, the World Bank, Rockefeller Foundation, Winrock International, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

    Dr. Maredia has extensively traveled to more than 50 countries around the world and has disseminated knowledge, information and new technologies widely to the global agricultural development community. He has published more than 25 papers, book chapters and co-edited five books.

    New Horizons in Food Laws in Africa and the Middle East
    This online course, introduces food law and regulation as it is currently practiced in the region. Students gain an understanding of the numerous factors influencing the development of food laws and regulations, legal and regulatory complexities, and the flow of food and agricultural products across Africa and the Middle East. Perspectives from legal, regulatory, scientific, and trade interests are considered. The linkage of law and regulatory developments in Africa and the Middle East to broader movements underway on an international basis is explored.
