MSU College of Law

Job Search Services

The Career Services Office (CSO) offers a full menu of services to help you find, apply for, and successfully market yourself for part-time, summer, and post-graduate positions. The office provides access to a proprietary online job posting system, numerous legal employer databases, and an alumni job bulletin featuring employment opportunities in the region and across the nation.

CSO staff coordinate workshops and offer advice to build your skills in areas such as resume writing and business etiquette. The office’s Career Planning Manual (PDF, MSU NetID required) contains in-depth tips and examples of competitive resumes, cover letters, and thank you letters. The staff also give detailed guidance aimed at showcasing your experiences and skills in a way that resonates with legal employers.

Interview Preparation and Scheduling

CSO advisors—along with alumni and local practitioners—conduct individualized mock interviews to boost your confidence and improve your interviewing skills. Realistic mock interviews help you polish your etiquette and presentation in a safe, low-stress environment.

Once you’re ready for the real thing, the CSO facilitates interviewing opportunities for summer and post-graduate employment through a variety of channels. MSU Law’s annual On-Campus Recruiting program attracts employers from across the state and region. The CSO also helps you reach prospective employers through collect-and-send and direct-send resume services, an annual recruitment fair, and connections with the Patent Law Interview Program in Chicago and other career fairs.

Let us help you navigate your path to success.
