“The real world experience that faculty bring, coupled with a willingness to share those experiences with students, makes for a great three years.”

John Garanagameo Simermeyer serves as an advocate for tribal clients with federal agencies and congressional offices. His education at MSU Law prepared him to work with tribal leadership and address the critical issues facing Indian country.

“The staff at the Indigenous Law and Policy Center provided great insight from their own real-world experience practicing in Indian country,” he explained. “I apply what I learned in substantive courses every day at work.”

John also took advantage of MSU Law’s Alternative Dispute Resolution courses. “My studies in Indigenous Law showed me the legal challenges tribes face, but my coursework in ADR helped me understand alternative administrative proceedings in an agency setting,” he said. “Both are essential to what I do now.”
