Andy Ninh chose MSU College of Law because he appreciated the creativity and compassion in the community. “The professors are passionate about teaching, and the Law College provides many opportunities to gain valuable legal experience,” he said. “One of the school’s strengths is its vision for the future and ability to innovate.”

During Andy’s time at MSU Law, he explored cutting-edge legal issues and gained real-world experience through the Intellectual Property Information and Communications Law (IPIC) program. “I enjoy appellate oral arguments, so I joined the IP Moot Court Team for trademark law,” he said. “I worked with students and practicing IP attorneys to prepare for the annual Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition. My team traveled to Chicago to compete, and it was a rewarding opportunity.”

Andy also enjoyed being involved in MSU’s ReInvent Law program. “It teaches about combining law, technology, design, and delivery, and changed my view on legal practice,” he said. “Reinvent Law provides an alternative to traditional law practice and explores entrepreneurial endeavors pertaining to law. It opened doors for me--like being able to travel to California and speak on stage to 400+ attorneys and professionals.”  

Outside of the law school, Andy has found that the Michigan State name is integral for networking. “I have met Spartan alumni across the nation who were eager to know about my experiences, and are willing to extend a hand,” he said. “I landed a job in part because the hiring associate was an MSU Law alumnus, and a mutual contact recommended me.”

He reminds current and potential law students that being a great lawyer is about more than legal knowledge. “You need to work well with others and communicate effectively,” he said. “Meet your peers, professors, and legal professionals.”
