“[Law Review] gave me the first taste of working as part of a joint enterprise to put forth an outstanding product. And it inculcated in me the absolute necessity of attention to detail and near-perfect work product our profession demands.”

David Grant is a partner in the business litigation group for a midsized, regional law firm specializing in employment and business litigation. His primary focus is trade secrets litigation, both prosecution and defense. The firm represents a wide variety of businesses, from Fortune 500 companies to smaller, local startups.

“I work with extremely intelligent, hard-working, thorough, and ethical attorneys, who make me proud of my chosen profession,” he said. “I find the intellectual rigors of motion practice very satisfying, as well as the satisfaction of a job well done for the client.”

Of all his academic experiences, the Michigan State Law Review prepared David the most for practicing law. “It gave me the first taste of working as part of a joint enterprise to put forth an outstanding product,” he said. “And it inculcated in me the absolute necessity of attention to detail and near-perfect work product our profession demands.”

David said that MSU College of Law’s strengths include an outstanding faculty that not only prepares students for practical challenges, but also explores some of the more esoteric and interesting questions in the law. “I also found colleagues and friends who challenged each other to succeed and to leave the Law College in even better shape than when we arrived,” he said.
