“Engaging with a case in a very grounded and practical way allows me to get an experience you just can't replicate in other types of classes. I've practiced so many trial skills because of the Trial Practice Institute program that I feel confident in what I'm doing.”

For Daniel Berkowitz, Michigan State University College of Law provided a serious academic that was also very welcoming. "There are a number of great specialized programs, and students have the opportunity to participate in activities and classes that can't be found at other law schools," he said. "My relationship with my peers, faculty, and staff has been entirely positive. I've had fellow students offer me their notes if I had to miss a class because of a Jewish holiday or for other reasons (I of course returned the favor!). All of the professors I've had at MSU Law have been extremely knowledgeable and very approachable."

Daniel came to MSU Law in part for the Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute (TPI), and it was the best part of his legal education. "Engaging with a case in a very grounded and practical way allows me to get an experience you just can't replicate in other types of classes," he said. "I've practiced so many trial skills because of the TPI program that I can feel confident in what I'm doing during my summer internship. It’s the number one class that got me prepared for what I want to do with my legal career."

His participation in Moot Court gave him the opportunity to fuel his competitive fire and to practice trial skills he plans to use during his legal career. "In addition, the Jewish Legal Society has allowed me to have a little community within the larger MSU Law community. The JLS networking event has given me courage about networking with fellow attorneys," he said. "Saying I'm a Michigan State University student allows me to be seen in a positive light right away. MSU has a great reputation nationwide that will carry you far."
