“The ADR Program exhibits the most collaborative and congenial atmosphere I have experienced at MSU Law—something that is fostered by the ADR faculty who are tirelessly dedicated to the development of the program.”

Lauren Prew Fouser feels that MSU Law is committed to providing access to all of its students and helping students achieve academic success. “There are definite benefits to being on a large university campus: access to university resources, collegiate atmosphere, financial support, and so on,” she said. “The faculty are particularly devoted to student development, and there are programs available that are tailored to every student's individual interest.”

For Lauren, the ADR Program has been her home at MSU Law. Beginning at the end of her 1L year, she became involved with mediation and negotiation. “My commitment to the program has only grown over the last two years, and I could not have asked for a meaningful program to be a part of,” she said.

As a member of both the mediation and negotiation teams and the President of the ADR Board, Lauren said she has been fortunate to be surrounded by people who are so supportive of one another. “The ADR Program exhibits the most collaborative and congenial atmosphere I have experienced at MSU Law—something that is fostered by the ADR faculty who are tirelessly dedicated to the development of the program,” she said.

Outside of the classroom, Lauren enjoyed an externship at the University of Michigan Health Systems in the Compliance Department. “Working with Leslie Kamil to understand the various fields of health care compliance and law was something that led me to my upcoming associate job in Texas, where I will be working in health care law,” she said. “I was able to gain hands-on experience dealing with compliance issues. The experience was invaluable and laid the foundation for my future career.”

Lauren said her time at MSU Law has been an incredible learning experience, “One that has developed me as an individual, an academic, and an attorney. It has been humbling, challenging, and gratifying, but in the end, it is just the beginning of my journey into the legal profession.”

Lauren looks forward to being able to maintain her connection with the school in the future.
