2020 RWA Advocacy Judge Information Sheet

Thank you for your interest.  As you may already know, MSU has transitioned to all online courses for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester.  Many of our students have returned to their permanent homes. Thus, we have  cancelled in-person oral arguments this semester.  Instead, we will hold the oral arguments online with judges, professors, and students using Zoom, an online video conferencing service.

If you are comfortable using Zoom without MSU support, we would still love to have you judge arguments and ask questions of our students remotely.  Neither you nor the students will be on the MSU campus. Your time is even more important as we anticipate that some judges will not have access to Zoom. Please let us know if you are free for any of the following times:

Saturday, April 4: 8:30 a.m.−12:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 4: 1:00 p.m.−5:00 p.m.
Monday, April 6: 5:30 p.m.−9:15 p.m.
Tuesday, April 7: 5:30 p.m.−9:15 p.m.
Wednesday, April 8: 5:30 p.m.−9:15 p.m.
Thursday, April 9: 5:30 p.m.−9:15 p.m.

Please email franc103@law.msu.edu if you would like to volunteer to judge.

While using Zoom, the oral arguments will be recorded by Advocacy professors. The recording will be limited to use for educational purposes, including potential review by the professors for purposes of grading and comments for spring competition team tryouts. Please let us know if this would be a problem for you. If we do not hear from you, we will assume that you agree to the use of the recordings for limited, non-public, educational purposes.

We thank you for offering your time to help our students!
