Study Used In Court

Results from the Jury Selection Study are being used in arguments about death row inmates who claim racial bias played a role in their case. The North Carolina state law, adopted in 2009, lets judges consider statistics when reviewing racial bias claims. Those who succeed in proving racial bias at the time of their charging or sentencing will be re-sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
