MSU Law Mourns Passing of Professor Bob Filiatrault

Dear Alumni and Friends,

I am deeply saddened to share the news that Professor Bob Filiatrault has passed away. Professor Filiatrault's impact on the Detroit College of Law and MSU College of Law is incalculable. He was a passionate teacher at the law college for many decades, beginning in 1971. He is remembered for his practical approach to teaching Evidence and Civil Procedure courses, and especially for his involvement in the Moot Court program.

Professor Veronica McNally worked closely with Professor Filiatrault. "He served as the faculty advisor for the Moot Court Board for many years," she said. "Professor Filiatrault played a critical role in providing students with opportunities for leadership and advocacy within a culture of collegiality and excellence. His dedication to MSU Law and its students will be remembered for years to come."

As a testament to his career, Professor Filiatrault received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2013.

We will miss him greatly.

Sincerely,

Joan W. Howarth
Dean and Professor of Law
