Michigan Writers Series to Feature MSU Law Professor Brian Gilmore

East Lansing, MI — The Michigan Writers Series presents law professor and poet Brian Gilmore on Thursday, October 6. The series showcases the work of important Michigan writers.

Professor Gilmore is a clinical associate professor and director of the Housing Law Clinic at Michigan State University College of Law. He also is a columnist for the Progressive Media Project and the author of two collections of poetry, Elvis Presley is Alive and Well and Living in Harlem (Third World Press, 1993) and Jungle Nights and Soda Fountain Rags: Poem for Duke Ellington & the Duke Ellington Orchestra (Karibu Books, 2001).

Gilmore’s poems have been published in Jubilat, Beltway, and Ocho 23, and will appear in a forthcoming issue of Sugar House Review. A respected expert in the area of housing law, he has authored dozens of legal articles, commentaries, and reviews.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in MSU’s Main Library north conference room at 7 p.m. The evening is co-sponsored by MSU College of Law.
