Events Office Services
The Law College building is the venue for many kinds of events and is used by many varied groups. The Law College Events Office provides an array of services to help event organizers achieve their goals.
In general, there are two kinds of events. A major event is one that includes a program, invited presenters, a budget for travel, hotel and meals, and use of the Law College name for promotion purposes. The Events Office also assists with smaller group gatherings that may have 10 or fewer attendees and limited or no food and drink.
Almost any public area of the Law College may be reserved for an event, depending on availability. Major events are usually held in the Castle Board Room, which can hold 70 people comfortably in classroom style, or 200 in audience style. Special events are sometimes held in the Moot Court Room, which seats 65 or the fourth floor classrooms, which can seat 100 people. The fourth floor Atrium has been used for dinners and short presentations. Small group meetings are sometimes held in third floor classrooms. Even the ground floor lobby has been used by student groups on occasion. In addition, the staff can arrange for your event at an offsite location such as the Henry Executive Center or the Kellogg Center.
Events staff are expert at arranging the right caterer for an event and can assist with travel and hotel arrangements. They have an inventory of Law College items that can be purchased as gifts. A detailed list of Events services includes:
- Ordering and housing Law College merchandise
- Wrapping or packaging gifts for guests
- Ordering food and drink for onsite and offsite meetings
- Booking travel and hotel for guests
- Assisting student organizations to plan events
- Providing signs, sign holders, name badges, and tent cards
The Events Office also oversees the digital announcement screens that face the elevators on each floor, and sends out one e-mail list of announcements daily.
