Jason Thompson co-chairs the Sommers Schwartz Complex Litigation Department – which includes the firm’s Mass Tort, Class Action, Employment, and Intellectual Property practices. He is a nationally recognized class action attorney, board certified in civil litigation by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and has an AV Preeminent Lawyer rating from Martindale Hubbell.Mr. Thompson specializes in a variety of complex litigation cases, including suits for overtime pay filed under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), defective pharmaceutical drugs and devices, consumer rights, RICO, qui tam (False Claim Act and whistle blower cases), antitrust, and environmental tort matters.Mr. Thompson represents institutional clients such as municipalities, healthcare plans, and unions in complex business litigation, as well as individuals in consumer class actions, personal injury, and mass tort cases. Mr. Thompson tried the first Pacers-Piston’s Brawl case arising out of the high-profile 2004 brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills.Mr. Thompson’s peers and the judges before whom he practices have repeatedly recognized him for his skills as a trial attorney and lead class action counsel. Jason is regularly appointed by courts to serve as lead counsel in class actions and multidistrict litigation (MDL). He has extensive trial experience, several multimillion dollar jury verdicts and settlements in class action and multidistrict litigation (MDL) cases across the country.
