Biography: Professor McCormick served as an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in Denver, Colorado from 1973 to 1978 and as counsel to the Honorable Howard Jenkins, Jr., a member of the NLRB, in Washington, D.C. From 1978 until 1979, he was Assistant Director of Gift and Estate Planning for The University of Chicago. Professor McCormick joined the Law College faculty in 1979 and served as Associate Dean from 1986 through 1989. He teaches Labor Law, Sports Law, and Decedents’ Estates and Trusts. In addition to authoring a textbook on sports law, Professor McCormick is a frequent author of articles on labor law and sports law, and his writings have appeared in prominent law reviews, including Vanderbilt Law Review, Emory Law Journal, Washington & Lee Law Review, and the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform as well as in national periodicals including The New York Times and The National Law Journal. He has served as the Chairperson for the Labor & Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Under a grant from that Section, Professor McCormick co-wrote and co-produced a video documenting the contribution of Michigan lawyers to the development of labor and employment law. He currently serves as Chairman of the Michigan Region of the National Academy of Arbitrators and also as co-counsel in Clarett v. National Football League.
