  • Biography

    Melanie VanAntwerp is an Assistant General Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel at Michigan State University. She counsels the University with respect to a wide range of transactional matters.

    Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel, Ms. VanAntwerp was a partner at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, a Detroit-based law firm where she practiced corporate law for approximately eight years. At Honigman, Ms. VanAntwerp served as outside corporate counsel to both publicly-traded and privately-held companies in a variety of industries and stages of development. She was also a member of the firm’s 2020 Visioning Committee, Attorney Development Committee, and Summer Associate Committee.

    Ms. VanAntwerp received her law degree summa cum laude from Wayne State University Law School, where she served as Assistant Editor and Associate Editor of The Wayne Law Review. She graduated with high distinction from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Political Science.

    Ms. VanAntwerp is admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan and was previously admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio.
