Trustee Linda M. Orlans is the Vice Chair of the MSU Law Board of Trustees. She is Chief Executive Officer of Orlans Associates, Orlans Moran, Atlantic Law Group and eTitle Agency, Inc.
Orlans manages nearly 500 employees in a multi-state practice serving financial institutions and investors nationwide. Her practice includes residential and commercial mortgage foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction, loss mitigation and real estate related matters including title and settlement services. Together, the firms provide services in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Orlans believes that "we get what we give" and is involved with programs that promote education and youth initiatives, culture and the arts, civic and community development. She is active in groups including Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan, serving on the Executive Board and as Fundraising Chair; is a founding member of Beaumont Hospital Foundation's First Words Society; and serves as legal counsel and on the Board of Directors for Beyond Basics, a community group providing reading, writing and enrichment programs for school children and their families in Detroit and Pontiac. She worked to bring HOPE (Home Ownership Preservation Enterprise) to Detroit, an organization that helps people facing foreclosure save their homes. Orlans also supports the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Michigan Opera Theatre and serves as a member of the Distinguished Clown Corps in the Parade Company's America's Thanksgiving Day parade.
In 2009, Orlans received the Michigan State University College of Law's George N. Bashara Jr. Distinguished Alumni Award and was admitted to their Donor Hall of Fame, named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Central Great Lakes Region in the "Services" category, and was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Orlans is a member of the USFN (America's Banking Attorney) and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Legal and Financial Network. She is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association, Mortgage Bankers Association, Michigan Mortgage Brokers Association, REOMAC and the Women's Lawyers Association in Michigan.
Orlans is a frequent speaker and trainer on a broad spectrum of issues including home retention, innovation, process improvement and team building. She is a founding member of WEB (Women Executives in Banking) and serves on the Board of Directors for the Inforum Center for Leadership.
Orlans holds degrees from Wayne State University and Michigan State University College of Law.
