MSU-DCL applications and enrollment on the rise

MSU-DCL broke a number of admissions records this past fall. The college had its highest numbers of applicants and enrolled students since it was founded in 1891, and LSAT scores rose. Between the fall of 2002 and the fall of 2003, the college saw the following increases:
• 42 percent in applications
• 14 percent in new full-time students
• 43 percent in new part-time students
• 20 percent in overall enrollment

MSU-DCL students come from 40 states, five countries and 151 undergraduate programs. About 15 percent of the college’s students identify themselves as minorities, and nearly half are women. Among Fall 2003 accepted students, the average LSAT score was 156.

Law college implements environmental law externship

MSU-DCL’s new Environmental Law Consulting Externship is giving students opportunities to research environmental policy issues related to wetlands and watersheds. Close collaboration among MSU-DCL, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and the MSU Fisheries and Wildlife Department exposes law students to the scientific and the legal choices involved in making and implementing environmental policy.
