Law College Hosts Visiting Scholar From Japan


Throughout much of 2002,
MSU-DCL hosted Shigeki Ojima, a law professor at Kanazawa University in Japan, as a visiting scholar. During his stay, Professor Ojima researched U.S. consumer law, particularly in the area of consumer credit protection. He will offer his research findings as a basis for changes in Japanese consumer laws.

Professor Ojima’s primary teaching areas are Japanese civil code and consumer credit law. He is a member of the Japan Association of Private Law and the Japan Association of the Law of Finance. He has published a number of journal articles on Japanese civil code and consumer protection.

Professor Ojima holds Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws degrees from Nagoya University in Nagoya, Japan. With him in East Lansing were his wife Kyoko, a visiting scholar at the MSU College of Human Ecology, and their two children.
