The Honorable George A. Greig, 63, retired after 24 years as the Allegan County probate juvenile judge. Previous to this, he was in private practice and became the first full-time prosecuting attorney for Allegan County before his service on the bench.
Thomas B. Wells, 65, moved his practice to Traverse City, Michigan. His firm handles general practice with an emphasis in alternative dispute resolution.
Stanley Kurzman, 66, was re-elected to a four-year term as a trustee on the Waterford (Michigan) Schools Board of Education. He has been a member of the board since 1970.
David W. Sommerfeld, 67, was listed in Best Lawyers in America 2001-02, Whos Who in America 2001 and Whos Who in American Law 2001-02.

Senator H. Truman Chafin, 72, was elected for a sixth consecutive term as majority leader in the West Virginia Senate.
The Honorable Patrick C. Bowler, 75, was elected president of the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Bar Association.
Stanley V. Roose, 75, retired from active practice in Garden City, Michigan.
The Honorable Stephen M. Rubin, 75, was installed as secretary of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) in Reno, Nevada. The nations oldest and largest judicial membership organization, NCJFCJ addresses issues pertaining to juvenile and family law and is a leader in policy development and continuing education opportunities.
James A. Shalvoy, 79, continues to specialize in security-related matters and to represent clients in front of the Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Association of Securities Dealers, the New York Stock Exchange and federal and state courts throughout the country.

1980-1989

Lambro Niforos, 80, was elected to represent the Third Judicial Circuit on the State Bar of Michigan Board of Commissioners. She is a supervisory attorney and corporation counsel with Wayne County.

Brian D. Miller, 82, was promoted to associate director of admissions at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.
Joan A. Bacon, 83, became a partner in Secrest, Wardle, Lynch, Hampton, Truex and Morley, P.C. She is a member of the firms Municipal Law Group and focuses her practice on district court prosecution of ordinance violations.
William Lansat, 83, was re-appointed by Governor John Engler to the Governors Task Force on Childrens Justice, created to enhance child abuse prevention efforts. He is an attorney with Schnelz, Wells, Monaghan and Wells in Birmingham, Michigan.
Laural Stuart-Fink, 84, co-authored an article, Legal and Accounting Considerations of Antenuptial Agreements, published in the June 2002 CPA Journal. Her private practice concentrates on matrimonial and family law.

Helen P. Moore, 88, was the lead plaintiff in the school takeover case, a voting rights case heard on May 3, 2002, in the Sixth Circuit Court. She researched for head attorneys Sharon McPhail and George Washington.
David Nickola, 89, will defend Gabriel Ferris, convicted 17 years after a 1974 killing in Saginaw County. Nickola was not Ferriss attorney at the time of his conviction.

Mark M. Talbot, 90, accepted a position with Allstate Insurance Company as Corporate Counsel in McAllen, Texas. He formerly was a senior prosecutor with the District Attorneys Office in Hidalgo County, Texas.
Margaret Bezerko, 92, and husband Richard Bezerko formed SensComp, Inc., in February 2002. SensComp, Inc., which purchased the Ultrasonic Transducer Division of the Massachusetts-based Polaroid Corporation, is now the manufacturer of Polaroids various transducers and components and the sole worldwide manufacturer of electrostatic transducers.
Patricia E. Kefalas Duke, 92, joined Beier Howlett Professional Corporation in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She concentrates her practice on estate planning for the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and their families.
Tom Silvia, 92, joined the musical band Bare Assets, along with Richard Victor, 75 and John Mills, 77.
