Class of 2013 Chooses to Support Planned DCL Plaza with $20.13 Giving Opportunity

As it’s class gift this year, the Class of 2013 is encouraging fellow students to pledge $20.13 this year and four years following in an effort to secure a place on the DCL Plaza Commemorative Plaza donor wall.
The Plaza, which will provide a new canopy and entrance to the Law College, along with new landscaping and outdoor seating is part of a beautification project as well as a way for MSU Law to remember from where it began – as Detroit College of Law established in 1891.
The Plaza will be prominently located at the Law College’s main entrance and will include bench seating, tables, chairs and umbrellas, and a brief history of the founding of this great law college along with two of the Greek Gods of Education friezes that came from the original college building in Detroit.
“The Class of 2013 is pleased to support this effort as we recognize the significance of the history of the Law College, as well as the values DCL brought to legal education,” said Alyssa Doster, 2013 Class President. ”We are encouraging each class member to make a $20.13 pledge this year and over the next four years so that we are able to raise $10,000 in gifts and pledges to have the Class of 2013 listed on the donor wall in support of this effort.”
There are many ways to participate in the Class of 2013 Gift Campaign. T-shirts, adorned with a design chosen by the Class of 2013, are available for $20.13. Students may also purchase raffle tickets for an array of prizes. Each ticket costs $1.50 or you can get four tickets for $5. Prizes include:
- Two (2) $1,000 tuition credit certificates for a BARBRI bar review course*
- Two (2) $500 discount certificates for a Themis bar preparation coursex
- Four (4) $250 discount certificates for a Kaplan bar preparation courseo
- Two (2) $25 gift cards for Crunchy’s East Lansing
- One (1) Stress Relieving Treatment for the Douglas J. Aveda Institute
- One (1) first year bar dues payment
Finally, each student will have the opportunity to say “thank you” in a special booklet to be distributed during commencement in May 2013. Students interested in sending a message of thanks or any (appropriate) message can do so with a variety of options, such as $5 for every 15 words. $25 for 100 words or $40 for a half page with optional black & white photo. This is a wonderful way to recognize and appreciate those special individuals and family members who helped you along the way through law school.
Students may also donate or make a pledge of $20.13, or any other amount they choose, in person through the Office of Advancement, room 400. Your class officers have designated the DCL Commemorative Plaza as the recipient of your 2013 Class Gift; however, you may select any program. Students who make pledges may make their first payment anytime, but also may choose to pay it up to one year after graduation. Each year, a student will receive a pledge reminder for his/her pledge as appropriate.

*Discount only applies toward final tuition balance for BARBRI Bar Review Course. Winner must pay $250 non-refundable registration fee and certificate cannot be used to pay registration fee.
