What is your experience with MSU Law?
The law school doesn’t just focus on the theory taught in the classroom setting. Our school gives us the opportunity to learn through practical, hands-on experience. Participating in the immigration clinic was not only a lot of work that I enjoyed, but it helped me solidify that I want to practice that type of law after graduation. We currently have 10 clinics, and I would advise anyone to check out the clinics, see if there is an area of law that seems interesting, and participate. Nothing beats a failure but a try!

Describe your relationship with fellow classmates and faculty.
Being almost 1,000 miles away from my primary and secondary homes, it was important for me to at least feel comfortable where I decided to attend law school. I was pleasantly surprised about how open and available the professors were. From office hours to giving out cell phone numbers, they have been really helpful.

Tell us about your involvement in Spartan Youth Advocacy Society. How have these contributed to your education or employment?
Spartan Youth Advocacy Society is one of the newest organizations added to the law school and will be going into the third year of existing. The organization utilizes a collaboration of law school students and Master’s students pushing social justice for the youth. I’ve gotten the opportunity to meet different graduate students across the disciplines and volunteer for a few events, like cooking Thanksgiving dinner at the Angel House.

What does the MSU name mean for your education?
When I tell people that I attend law school at Michigan State University, everyone knows the school I am talking about. The widespread name recognition is helpful, whether I decided to practice back home in Georgia or New Jersey, I believe that I can go wherever I want to.
