“MSU Law’s professors are there to guide you every step of the way.”

Piotr Matusiak chose MSU College of Law for its generous scholarship program and outstanding diversity. “Thirty-six states and six countries are represented in my class,” he said. “Diversity enriches the academic experience as we’re able to draw on a wide-variety of perspectives. Furthermore, coming from a small liberal arts college, I appreciated small class sizes and personal attention from professors.”

Piotr said the students in his section were a tight-knit group, that everyone was approachable and helpful. Though the 1L experience is challenging, Piotr found that MSU College of Law professors were there to guide him every step of the way. “The real-world experience of the professors is phenomenal and the professors draw on that experience to solidify legal concepts within the classroom,” he said. “MSU Law Professors prepare you for what matters most: law school final exams and Bar examinations.”

His favorite professor was Elliot Spoon. “He has vast experience to draw on in the classroom from his many years in corporate law,” Piotr said. “His lectures are clear and to the point; every minute in his classroom is a minute well spent. Professor Spoon is also highly approachable, despite his busy schedule as both Professor of Law in Residence and Assistant Dean for Career Development. If you haven’t sat in one of Professor Spoon’s classes, you are missing out on a valuable experience.”

When he wasn't at the law school, Piotr enjoyed spending time at the many attractions MSU has to offer. “From nature trails to the bar scene, there is always something to do in East Lansing,” he said.
