“A law degree opens the door to many unique opportunities. So, find your passion and go for it!”

Max Kozinn doesn’t practice law, but he uses his degree from MSU College of Law every day.

As Manager of New Sales for The University of Texas at Austin, Kozinn is responsible for managing ticket sales for all sports at UT Athletics. Most recently, he was with the Cleveland Browns as the Manager of Premium Sales. Immediately after graduating from Michigan State with both a J.D. and an M.B.A., he accepted a position as a Sales Consultant with the Dallas Cowboys. During law school, Kozinn served as president of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and gained experience as an intern with the Detroit Pistons.

“Sports have always been my passion,” he says. “If I am not playing sports, I am watching sports. In college, I would go to all the sporting events and I always thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be so cool if I could somehow work in sports?’ But I didn’t really figure out how to go about it until law school.”

Kozinn says he chose MSU College of Law “because it was the up-and-comer, and it was in the Big Ten.” He adds, “When I tell people where I earned my degree, everyone knows my school.”

“MSU Law is excellent at embracing you with an open mindset,” he says. “The very fact that MSU offers an excellent J.D./M.B.A. program is huge. My advisors from both schools supported me. They helped me strive toward whatever goal I wanted to accomplish. It’s an institution for real-world experience.”

Kozinn says his law degree proves very useful in his job managing sales for the University of Texas. “Whether it’s managing my sales team, creating new marketing strategies, or collaborating with other departments on campus, I am using my law degree every day,” he says.

The job is challenging, Kozinn says, but he loves it. “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life,” he notes. “I can’t wait to get to work every day because I love what I do.”

He adds, “A law degree opens the door to many unique opportunities. So, find your passion and go for it!”
