”With the changing industry and economy, you need to take advantage of the opportunities that are provided by the Law College to expand your skill set and make yourself more desirable.“

At Novus Law, Joe Kelly provides litigation support services and other services to law firms and companies. “I split my time between working on legal issues and developing new technology,” he said. “I love being able to constantly develop my skills and career in an environment that not only tolerates change and excellence, but encourages it.”

“The ReInvent Law program at MSU College of Law directly led to my current position,” Joe said. “Through its conferences, programs and classes, I obtained skills necessary to think outside of the traditional lawyer mindset. The skills learned in classes such as Entrepreneurial Lawyering and Quantitative Methods provide so much knowledge that is useful outside of and within the legal profession.”

As a student at MSU Law, Joe most appreciated the faculty—how they cared about the students and the subject matter. “I appreciate how open the administration and faculty is to embracing change and disruption in the profession. The study abroad experiences are also top notch,” he said.

In Joe’s experience, it isn't enough to “just go through the motions” and learn the law in today’s market. “With the changing industry and economy, you need to take advantage of the opportunities that are provided by the Law College to expand your skill set and make yourself more desirable,” he said. “It is the perfect time to learn something new and change the profession for the better, take advantage of the opportunities provided.”
