“Although law school could be competitive and stressful, my classmates were always supportive and willing to help one another out. I made long lasting friendships at MSU Law and I am honored to have graduated with so many talented attorneys.”

As a law clerk, Erin Kelly’s main responsibilities include researching complex legal issues and drafting opinions. Because she’s an appellate law clerk, she also reviews the trial court's record, examines briefs, and listens to oral arguments. “The most rewarding aspect of my job is that it is intellectually stimulating,” she said. “I am expected to draft at least one opinion a week, so I am constantly learning about different areas of the law.”

While at MSU Law, Erin was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board, which helped her prepare for her current position as a judicial law clerk. “I gained extensive experience researching legal issues and learning how to write appellate briefs. I was also a member of the Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute (TPI), which is an intensive two-year litigation focused program. As a member of both TPI and the Appellate Moot Court Board, I gained experience developing and enhancing my legal writing and advocacy skills,” she said.

While at MSU Law, Erin found that all of her professors were eager to help outside of class and wanted to see her succeed as an attorney. “Although law school could be competitive and stressful, my classmates were always supportive and willing to help one another out. I made long lasting friendships at MSU Law and I am honored to have graduated with so many talented attorneys,” she said.
